A seminar to more than 50 participants featuring presentations from Singapore Exchange (SGX) and Derisk was held in Singapore on Tuesday 9 July.  The seminar was aimed at non-technical professionals working in the minerals sector.

Foong Chong Lek (SGX) provided an update on the status of SGX listed companies with assets in the mineral, oil and gas (MOG) sector plus a summary of the initial listing requirements and ongoing compliance requirements.  Mal Dorricott and Mark Berry (Derisk) gave a Mining 101 presentation providing participants with a broad overview of the minerals industry, critical mineral commodities, risks and opportunities, minerals industry jargon and terminology, mineral asset valuation methods, and the codes of practice relevant to companies listed on SGX.

Following the presentation, Chong Lek hosted a Q&A session with Mark and Mal that further explored issues specific to the minerals industry, including SGX public reporting obligations, the use (and abuse) of different valuation methods, and the mineral commodities most relevant to Southeast Asia.
