Derisk director Mark Berry was heavily involved in Mining Geology 2019, held in Perth in late November. He was on the organising committee, co-authored a paper with colleagues Perry Collier and Bruce Sommerville from Rio Tinto on the importance of mining geologists understanding the basic principles of mineral economics, ran a pre-conference workshop on geological risk, and presented at the post-conference Young Professionals day held in conjunction with the conference.
This conference is the best mining geology focused conference in Australia and the 2019 event was the eleventh since the series commenced, way back in 1990 in Mount Isa. The next conference is scheduled for Brisbane in 2021.
