The Queensland branch of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) held a successful social evening where geologists brought in a wide range of geological “tools of the trade”.  Derisk directors Mark Berry and Michele Pilkington attended and displayed some of their own items dating back more than 40 years. The treasure trove on display included a plane table and other field mapping gear, drafting equipment, hand-drawn geological maps and sections, hand-written drillhole logs, an assortment of geophysical devices, weighing scales, scale rules and calculators, old texts and more.  It was a great evening that brought back many memories for the old-timers in the room and more importantly provided younger geologists with a glimpse into the geological tool kit of yesteryear.
