The Qld branch of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists held a one day seminar titled QA/QC for Exploration and Mining on Friday 28 June. Derisk was a sponsor of the seminar and Mark Berry chaired the day, which consisted of 14 presentations. Nearly 120 delegates registered for the seminar including in person, live streaming, and post-seminar on demand access.
Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) is an essential part of our role as geoscientists to ensure the data we collect is fit for purpose. It covers all data we collect, not just sampling and analytical data. Presentations covered the complete gamut of QA/QC — from data collected by drones, borehole surveying, portable scanning data, sampling and chemical analysis, database management, resource estimation, and even reconciliation.
Mark presented a talk titled “Why QA/QC is not just about sampling and analysis” to emphasise the importance of QA/QC across all forms of data collected by geologists.
