The Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) ran its third round of half-day professional development workshops on the JORC Code in November and Derisk again teamed with AIG to deliver the four workshops to over 60 participants. Each workshop, delivered as two 2-hour webinars, provides a different focus on the JORC Code: and the next round will be scheduled for early 2021.
Workshop 1: Introduction to the JORC Code – Designed for anyone new to the JORC Code, including early career geologists and geoscience students, experienced geologists unfamiliar with the Code and non-technical mining industry professionals. The workshop provides an overview of the Code, describes the key elements of the Code, introduces the concept of the Competent Person, and references linkages to the Australian Securities Exchange listing rules.
Workshop 2: Reporting Exploration Targets and Exploration Results – Designed as a refresher for geological staff who currently take Competent Person responsibility for public reporting of exploration data, those that may be able to do so now or in the near future, and non-technical mining industry professionals that work with exploration information. It provides an overview of the Code, describes the general elements of the Code, outlines the role and responsibility of the Competent Person and summarises the complaints process, the key elements of the Code relevant to exploration, common compliance issues including Table 1, and a summary of relevant rules of the Australian Securities Exchange.
Workshop 3: Reporting Mineral Resources – Designed as a refresher for geological staff who currently take Competent Person responsibility for public reporting of Mineral Resources, those that may be able to do so now or in the near future, and non-technical mining industry professionals that work with such information. It provides an overview of the Code, describes the general elements of the Code, outlines the role and responsibility of the Competent Person and summarises the complaints process, the key elements of the Code relevant to Mineral Resources and to a lesser extent Ore Reserves, common compliance issues including Table 1, and a summary of relevant rules of the Australian Securities Exchange.
Workshop 4: Integrating ASX Rules with the JORC Code – Designed as a refresher for geological staff who currently take Competent Person responsibility for public reporting of exploration and/or mining information, those that may be able to do so now or in the near future, and non-technical mining industry professionals that work with such information. It provides an overview of the JORC Code, describes the general elements of the Code, outlines the role and responsibility of the Competent Person and summarises the complaints process, the key elements of the Australian Securities Exchange Listing Rules relevant to exploration and mining information and common compliance issues.
